Nyu chemistry minor requirements

The Chemistry minor at New York University (NYU) is designed for students who wish to supplement their major with a deeper understanding of chemistry.

The minor requires a total of 16 credits, including both required and elective courses.

Here are the specific requirements for the Chemistry minor:

  1. CHEM-UA 125 General Chemistry I (4 credits)
  2. CHEM-UA 126 General Chemistry II (4 credits)
  3. CHEM-UA 233 Organic Chemistry I (4 credits)
  4. One additional 4-credit Chemistry course at the 200-level or above

Students may also fulfill the fourth requirement with a 4-credit course from the following list of Chemistry electives:

  • CHEM-UA 201 Physical Chemistry I
  • CHEM-UA 202 Physical Chemistry II
  • CHEM-UA 235 Organic Chemistry II
  • CHEM-UA 241 Inorganic Chemistry

Students must earn a grade of C or better in all Chemistry courses counted toward the minor.

Additionally, at least 8 of the 16 credits required for the minor must be completed at NYU.

Students may not count both CHEM-UA 125 and CHEM-AD 101 as part of the minor.
